Mycoremediation

  • The use of microfungi to digest toxins from soil and water sources.

  • This inhibits the inoculation of diseases and toxins from drinking water

  • To grow this fungi, wet, used cardboard wraps straw or other compostable nitrogen rich organics and left to mulch.

  • Mushrooms are great decomposers

  • Mushroom strains have been identified that can consume a wide array of contaminants- from bacteria like E. coli to industrial pollutants like dioxins to heavy metals and even chemical weapons.

  • Case Study – In Ecuador, there is a team cleaning up an oil spill in the Amazon River.
