Stage 4- Waterproofing and Prickly Pear

Stage 4- Waterproofing and Prickly Pear

  • Prepared prickly pear to soak for the next week so it will be ready for next lab
  • Chiseled off part of the existing cob stove, so we can use the material to make earthen plaster next week
  • Apply prickly pear juice to the cob stove; this will include 5 different tests (1. control, 2. grated juice only, 3. soaked juice only, 4. adobe with grated juice, 5. adobe with soaked juice)
  • Our goal is to observe how the prickly pear juice affects the stove.. does it waterproof it?
